Coaching is an integral part of rowing here at Royal Chester, we have a strong team of coaches, all of whom have vast knowledge and experience of all aspects involved with rowing. All of our coaches are CRB checked (enhanced) and recognised by the British Rowing as qualified coaches.


Senior Men
Our senior men's squad are coached by Jimmy Carew with high expectations, training them thoroughly while remaining athlete focussed, in order to achieve more successes each year than the year before.

Senior Women
Duncan Little is in charge of the senior women and his expertise is extremely valuable to both the squad and the club. Formerly a very successful coxswain, Duncan is superb at instructing his crews in the importance of good technique and the way in which the boat should feel as it glides through the water.

Junior Squad
Our Junior squad is incredibly vast and is split into the various age groups.

Younger juniors (J13 to J14), gain valuable experience on the water, focussing on technique and introducing them to rowing on a competitive level in Regattas in the Spring/Summer and Head of the River races in the Autumn/Winter.
The older Juniors (J15 to J18) are coached by our experienced ex rowers who understand technique and pain required to achieve success at local and national levels.

Senior Beginners /Ladies and Men any age
Michal Palamarczuk, the clubs captain, spends much of his time throughout the year teaching senior beginners before introducing them to their relevant squads.
We start you on the 'ergo' and develop technique and disciplines before introducing you to the water.
Michal also works with corporate groups over a 12 week period, achieving a good standard of rowing in such a short time with some even converting into the main Royals' squad.

Monday evenings 6-30 for beginners with prior appointment.
